In fact, if you care to find out the truth, just go to that handy search engine Google and type in "divorce rates by state" and see what comes up. Yep, 9 of the 10 lowest divorce rates are in the so-called "Blue" states, mainly in that horribly liberal Northeast. And the highest divorce rates? I am very appalled by her ignorant statement. My mother is a single mother, I am not a criminal. I am very successful. I have graduated from college with a Bachelor in Profesional Writing. The real reason that the majority of the residents of our prisons are from single parent homes is that most of the two parent family criminals actually had better legal representation. I have never been a big fan of "The View" and this espisode is a perfect example of why. They ask questions, then interrupt you every time you try to answer. They invite you on to talk, then bash you because you don't agree with them. Let's be frank: everything you ATTEMPTED to say, Ann, was absolutely true. Halle Berry calls herself a black actress, even though it was her white mother who loved her and raised her without the help of her black father. Obama barely acknowledges the white members of his family, even though they are the ones who took care of him when his black father wouldn't. And, while there was a time when a girl who was pregnant and not married would feel ashamed, that is certainly not the case now. These days, even if the girl is 15 years old, people gather around to celebrate and congratulate her. No thought is given to the fact that both her life and the life of her child are pretty much ruined. Keep talking, Ann! SOME of us ARE listening and those who aren't can just go to hell!

I am African-American and I am a single parent. My daughters now 30 and 21, whom I adopted, are both working and in school and I am very proud of all they have accomplished. I was raised by both of my parents who are still married, yet that didn’t deter me from taking on the responsibility of loving and nurturing two children who needed a home. I have a B.S. in Child Development and have considered myself a child advocate all my adult life. At the same time, I am aware that a single parent who has solid morals and is a positive role model for her children and willing to make the necessary sacrifices, is better than two parents who aren’t. The fact that single mothers raised 70% of those who are incarcerated is one way to look at the tragedy in our society. Another way to look at it would be, 70% of those who are incarcerated were perhaps raised in a dysfunctional environment that included an absent father.

As far as Halle, Alicia and Obama identifying themselves as black , that is because we have always lived in a white society that has never accepted a person of color who looks black as being white . Could any of them walk into a white supremacist meeting and take a seat? Since white America is going to treat them and others with similar skin tone as black, which race do you expect them to accept? There are plenty of black people with two black parents who possess skin that is a lighter than theirs. So, what would you call them ¦almost white? Furthermore, you only seem to be concerned about the half-white celebrities who have accomplished something. What about the ne'er-do-wells who are also half white? Do you want to claim them as well?

Furthermore, black celebrities, especially actors, are among those who have the most difficult time getting good roles. Do you really believe Meryl Streep would be as successful as she is if she had been black? How many of those outstanding roles would she have received being an outstanding black actress? Black people were here when George Washington was elected president. Do you really believe white America is saying that if Obama had come along one hundred years ago, he could have been president? Do you really believe that the only reason people who look black but are biracial only accept being African-American out of choice?
Perhaps the statistic you research for your next book should be the percentage of people who are trying to make a difference regardless of race.

Ann is right Obama wrote a book praising his black father why not a book about his white mother and grandparents who raised him fed him educated him (with the help of GOvt handouts) due to the fact that he was a fatherless child. The Govt set up the programs to destroy the Family if you have a baby without a father then you can get free housing (housing projects title 8) food stamps,free medical insurance ,free child care ,free breakfast and lunch in school. I work with a woman who ditched her husband (who by the way was working a full time job and a part time job) so that she could have a brand new home bulit for her and her 2 children by habitat for humanity, you have to be a single mother below a certain income to qualify (she had a huge wedding to this man that cost every bit of $2000.00 or more 5 yrs ago) he is a good man and a good father and the father of her two children age 10 and 5. yes she worked the systen in her favor and now has a custom built (she pickout the carpet,counter tops tile and paint) home.

Did the producers of the show give Ann a small fee for babysitting? Ann deserved it, especially when she tried to respond, only to get interrupted.
