Save Dharavi

As the government tries to develop Dharavi the people who live and work there are trying to ensure that they have a say in the entire process.

One would think that the developers would think it in their best interest to pay the citizens of Dharavi for their land and not ask the government to confiscate it on their behalf. They would have more "wealthy" Indians to go to shop at their malls.

I find it hard to believe that only one developer is interested in that real estate. Imagine if the process was open to a free international market. I'm sure another developer would be willing to compensate the residents with more than 200sqft.

But when you put your life in the hands of government, you get what you are given. And I'll go out on a limb and say you won't like it.

New York City didn't rise out of poverty into prosperity from government planning.
